Horseshoe Bay is Port Elliot's main beach and during the warmer months and is a popular destination for locals and tourists. Its sheltered
bay, which extends for about 500 metres along the foreshore provides relatively calm conditions all year round; largely due to the close proximity of
Pullen Island and The Twins - small islands and outcrops which provide sanctuary for local birdlife.
This recording is taken from the Horseshoe Bay's smaller secluded beach, which is located below the Port Elliot obelisk. The beach is characterised by impressive
large boulders and rich coloured sands. The sonic character of this location is attractive too, with a compelling acoustic transparency allowing
the gentle ebbing of surf to be heard, along with the peripheral roar of the ocean beyond Pullen Island and The Twins.
